The Big White Farmhouse

intentional living, little by little

{etsy finds} Saying Thanks…

How was your Christmas, friends?  Mine was simply wonderful.  The boys were so fun to watch and lots of fun memories were made.  It was perfect.  Now I am slowly returning to normal life and my to-lists are growing!  One of the top things on my list: thank-you cards.  I have so many that I am going to try to use up my stash this year, but check out some of these beauties I found while perusing etsy:
I love these chevron cards from Sarah Pederson Design.
Set of 6 for $16

Have someone extra special that deserves a card all their own?  This letterpress card from missive is gorgeous and will be treasured.
$4

Aren’t these mitten cards adorable?  They were created by Delightfully Noted.
Set of 12 for $18

I am seriously considering these for my kiddos.  Aren’t they so sweet?  Perfect cards to send to the grandparents!  Made by Mika Art.
Set of 4 for $4.99
I might not be back in this space until next week, but be sure to check back.  2012 is going to be a big year for the Big White Farmhouse and I’ll have lots to share!

{in the kitchen} Reindeer Cupcakes

I surprised the boys right before bedtime last night with a little cupcake decorating party.  Their excitement was contagious.  I truly believe that if you’re stressed this Christmas season, you need only to stop and experience something through the eyes of your children.  It’s amazing how simple they make things.

So on that note, blogging will be taking a back seat so I can fully experience the last few days of Advent with my sweet boys.  I want to thank all of you readers for coming back time and again to my humble little blog.  Your comments truly make my day (seriously…I excitedly tell my husband at dinnertime about every single one!).  What a blessing to meet and connect with girlfriends who have similar interests.

Here’s wishing you a wonderful and relaxing Christmas holiday with the ones you love!

{christmas} Pinterest Overload?

{source}

I love Pinterest.  Really I do.  But sometimes I have to take a step back from the never-ending list of beautiful images before envy rears its ugly head.  Because my reality right now looks nothing like the stylized beauty that fills my screen.  There are toys scattered on the floor.  A carefully constructed block tower that has been long abandoned for other things.  A funky half-decorated tree (because we have a 1-year-old who likes to break things).

My dining room has become gift wrapping central, where I try to get a little bit done everytime I can steal away for a few seconds.  Of course, that really is a nice way of saying that my dining room is a huge mess!

So yeah.  My house isn’t the picture perfect scene that splashes the front pages of Pinterest, but it’s ours and it’s good.

{chit chat} A Post You Really Must Read

{via}

My husband took the day off, so we’re taking the day to run an errand or two and enjoy our time with Daddy!  I wanted to just pop in quickly, though, to share a blog post I found last night that really resonated with me.  I was nodding my head throughout the entire thing.  For the most part, I think I succeeded in creating “a Christmas of yes” this season.  You really must read it.  You can find it here.
