{etsy finds} One-of-a-Kind Finds at My Vintage Lane

Ready for a new shop full of great vintage finds?  My Vintage Lane is just a treasure trove!  These are just a few things that caught my eye:

1. These slate chalkboards are so versatile.  I’m picturing them as part of a holiday party tablescape, written with the menu.  So cute!
2. I think old cameras are so neat and make for interesting home decor.  I’d put this 1930’s  Kodak camera in a bookcase with a few others. Sure to be a conversation starter!
3. The four pint-sized milk bottles would look darling on a kitchen windowsill holding cut flowers.  Or!  The bottles would be perfect in a craft room for those teeny odds and ends.  I love pieces that are functional as well as beautiful.
4. Buttons can be used for a countless number of projects.  I recently re-found this pin, which got my wheels turning.  I’m thinking of decorating an “A” in buttons for my office and this lot would be perfect.
5. I LOVE this Pepsi crate and can picture it in my big boys’ room filled with Legos.

{etsy finds} Vintage Back to School

Today is our first day of Kindergarten!  The school supplies have been purchased, the lesson plans have been written out and the books are anxious to be read!  As a real first-timer as far as homeschooling goes, I’ve got lots of butterflies.  I’m praying (a lot!) that I can provide my children a year full of learning and fun.

To celebrate this momentous day in our family, I found all kinds of great school-related finds on etsy.  I’m still on a big vintage kick lately…check these out:
1. 1960s Plaid Schoolgirl Dress (size 4): $14
2. 1940s Industrial School Desk in Fire Engine Red: $165
3. Vintage School Glove ca. 1950s: $67
4. Fisher Price School House: $45
5. Milk Glass Pedestal Vase: $12

{etsy finds} Adorable Baby Gifts from hope:handmade

hope:handmade was created with one goal in mind: to raise money for adoption.

Stacey’s story in her words: “In 2011, the Lord answered “no” to our plans for growing our family. Our hearts were broken, but then God gave us a new desire: to adopt. We began the domestic infant adoption process in December of 2011, and we can’t wait to grow our little family this way!”

What a positive and pro-life understanding of God’s will. I also loved this about them: “This shop is also an outworking of Stacey’s desire to not just wait, but to “actively wait,” expecting God to move and blessing others in the process. With each stitch we think of and pray for the little ones who will wear and use these items, and look forward to the day when OUR little one will too!”

1. Pink Birds Onesie (available in sizes Newborn to 12 Months): $12
2. Set of 2 Aqua Flannel Burpcloths: $14
3. Hugs and Kisses Onesie (available in sizes Newborn to 12 Months): $12
4. Aqua and Gray Bicycles Bib: $9
5. Whale Onesie (available in sizes Newborn to 12 Months): $12
6. Gray Felt Flower Headband: $6
I love how she stays within a similar color palette…so easy to mix and match items to make a really unique gift!  And the prices are awesome!
And if you’re interested, be sure to check out her blog for more adoption updates.

{etsy finds} Sugar and Spice, and Everything Nice

It happens every time.  With every pregnancy so far, I have been quite convinced from the very beginning that I was carrying a boy.  This pregnancy has been no exception.  Much to the dismay of many curious strangers, we aren’t “trying for a girl” and I actually would be quite excited for boy #4.  BUT…there’s always a small time period (usually right before the “big” ultrasound) where I start to question: What if?

So here are a few sweet things I found on etsy…just in case:

Bird Wooden Teether, Guardian Angel Softie, Art Print, Long Sleeve Sleeping Gown
but wait, there’s deals…
the Art Print was created by trafalgarssquare: enter LUCKYME at checkout to get 36% off!
the pink gown is made by Nostalgic Graphic Tees: enter 25SPRING at checkout to get 25% off!

{etsy finds} Beautiful (and Delicious!) Cookies from Sugar & Flour

Hearts, Mittens, Apples, Onesies, Owls
Today’s cool etsy find are these amazing cookies made by Karen at Sugar & Flour.  Aren’t these cookies so neat?    They are made from a vanilla/almond sugar cookie dough and frosted with vanilla/almond royal icing. Baked fresh to order!

I have ordered from her twice before and have been so pleased both times.  And the cookies….oh yum!  You must try them for yourself!  Her cookies are perfect for birthdays, baby showers or just because!  Wouldn’t the apple cookies be so cute individually wrapped as teacher gifts?  You can find her store here.

{etsy finds} Saying Thanks…

How was your Christmas, friends?  Mine was simply wonderful.  The boys were so fun to watch and lots of fun memories were made.  It was perfect.  Now I am slowly returning to normal life and my to-lists are growing!  One of the top things on my list: thank-you cards.  I have so many that I am going to try to use up my stash this year, but check out some of these beauties I found while perusing etsy:

I love these chevron cards from Sarah Pederson Design.
Set of 6 for $16

Have someone extra special that deserves a card all their own?  This letterpress card from missive is gorgeous and will be treasured.
$4

Aren’t these mitten cards adorable?  They were created by Delightfully Noted.
Set of 12 for $18

I am seriously considering these for my kiddos.  Aren’t they so sweet?  Perfect cards to send to the grandparents!  Made by Mika Art.
Set of 4 for $4.99
I might not be back in this space until next week, but be sure to check back.  2012 is going to be a big year for the Big White Farmhouse and I’ll have lots to share!

{christmas} Gift Ideas Under $20

Christmas is just 13 days away!  Are you done your shopping yet?  Need a few ideas?  All this week on the Big White Farmhouse, I’ll be showcasing great last minute gifts for everyone left on your list!  Today is all about affordable options, $20 or less.

Maze Towel by PataPri – $7
This towel is made in Japan, but there are many different options for kitchen towels out there.  Perfect for the baker or cook, I would add a wooden spoon and my favorite Christmas recipe.

Four Soap Sample Bricks by zenzame – $6.50
Set of Three Dish Daisies by DeliasHandmade – $12
This is a really good idea for gifts you’d like to do in multiples (girlfriends, teachers, etc).  Take one of the soaps and wrap together with a dish daisy…so cute.  And you’ll be able to keep one of the soaps for yourself 🙂
Set of Five Tissue Cozies by littlebitfunky – $20
A cute little gift for coworkers or teachers.  Also makes a nice stocking stuffer!

{etsy finds} Adorable Packaging from Sweet Findings

Just popping in quickly today to share an adorable way to package some of your Christmas gifts.  Part of the downside of shopping early is that I can’t snatch up this great idea!  Gotta tuck it away for next year!

via
The kit is $12 and comes with everything you need to wrap 10 packages!  I’m LOVING the adorable silhouette tags…how cute for the girlfriends in your life?
Sweet Findings can be found here.
Be quick though, she is only open until December 10th!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!  Ours will be filled with birthday celebrations, a visit from my cousin, and some shopping too!  See you Monday!

{etsy finds} Adorable Gift Tags from Fresh Lemon Blossoms

It’s time to talk about packaging!  Last year during the holidays, I challenged myself not to buy anything new – I made myself use up my stash of old wrapping paper and ribbons.  It was so hard to do as I looked longingly at all the beautiful aisles of paper and trims in the stores, but I’m loving the decision now!  This year, I can start fresh!

I stumbled upon the shop, Fresh Lemon Blossoms, and immediately loved her gift tags.  Take a peek at some of my favorites:

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
I love all of the little details, especially the glitter!  Wouldn’t they look awesome paired with just solid wrapping (or kraft paper!)?  Shop here.

P.S. I’ve had a little Gift Giving series in the works here at the Big White Farmhouse and I’m excited to say that it’s ready to go!  So be sure to come back all next week for lots of handmade gifts ideas for everyone on your list!
