Easter is just around the corner, so I’ve started thinking about what to put in those five little baskets.
Quick side note: I have been on a search for nice baskets for all five kids that we could use year after year, but didn’t cost a small fortune. Guys, I found them at World Market! They are plenty big, come in fun colors (we got blue, green and pink) and were only $10 each with free shipping! I love them.
Anyway, my motto with most gift giving is no junk. I try to purchase things that will can be enjoyed for awhile, as well as fun things that also fill a need. Of course a bit of chocolate too! Linking up with Melody (who’s taking over for Jenna!) today to share five of my favorite ideas:
Bunny Wooden Teether Toy // How adorable is this teether? I’m trying to convince myself that TJ doesn’t need it – poor 5th child! I’ve ordered baby gifts from Little Sapling before and the quality is so great. This is a nice choice for the under 1 crowd.
Eco-Dough // Made in Maine, this molding dough is made from all natural ingredients and is dyed with fruit and vegetable extracts. I also love that you can extend the life with a few drops of olive oil. Kids left it out all night? No problem! One box contains five containers, making it really easy to separate into multiple Easter baskets.
Bathing Suits/Swim Trunks // This year, I’m trying something new and putting swimwear in the kids’ baskets. This is technically a “need” and something I’d get for them anyway, but I think it becomes extra special if they find it in their baskets on Easter morning.
Classic Card Games // My kids are really into card games. We have this set, which comes with Crazy Eight, Go Fish, Old Maid and Alphabet Memory (along with two card holders – perfect for little hands) and we love them all. This is also a great idea for splitting into multiple baskets.
Color by Number Activity Book // Usborne makes lots of well made, really fun activity books. We don’t have this color by number one yet and it looks like something the boys would love…and maybe me too!
{BWF} 2014 Holiday Gift Guide from Big White Farmhouse
Our Vanilla Candle is 100% soy wax and has been hand poured into a 13oz. glass tumbler. Each candle is shipped to you in a burlap bag, making gift giving SO easy! Attach a tag to the ties and you’re done! With such a classic scent, this makes a great choice for many people on your list, including teachers, neighbors and co-workers.
We only have a few left in stock, but our linen aprons make a thoughtful gift for the home cook. We carry two varieties: the half apron in Oatmeal and the full apron in Brown. A fun and unexpected idea is to package in a vintage Ball Jar!
Owen Fox is just one in our collection of adorable stuffed animals (We also have Nicholas Bear, Gracie Cat, and Lucy Owl in stock). Every plush is sent to you in a reusable muslin bag, so you can just attach a gift tag and you’re done!
These pewter coffee scoops are new in the shop and they are fantastic! Perfect for any coffee lover (or maybe a new mama?), you could attach it with ribbon to your favorite brew. Each scoop also comes to you in a beautiful kraft-colored gift box, so you have another easy way to package and give.
Our letterpress recipe box is a great idea when you have a few people who’d like to go in on a gift together. Made of gorgeous American Maple, the box has a leather loop at the top and fits about 250 recipe cards. I can imagine it purchased for a new bride, filled with favorite recipes from her family. In the picture above, I included our Mason Jar recipe cards to help her get started!
Our seed bombs are a fun choice (and at a great price point!) if you need to buy for many: teachers, co-workers, girlfriends, etc. We carry three varieties: Salad Greens, Herbs, and Edible Flowers. While you obviously can wait until spring to plant outside, these also do well when planted indoors during the winter. A small plastic take out box was the perfect size to package three of them for giving.
{gift guide} Late Summer Nautical
- For your vintage-loving or thrifty friend: The vintage binoculars would be fun to display atop a bunch of navy/blue books. Maybe you have a favorite book to share or you could even hit up Goodwill and pick up a few (peel back those dust jackets and see what you can find!).
- Send a long-distance friend or relative the gorgeous stationary with a new pen and stamps. Great idea to start a pen-pal relationship!
- The bracelet would make a great gift for a tween/teen in your life. Maybe a back-to-school present?
- For that decorating-obsessed friend: The whale pillow is unique and the small knots would make an awesome bowl or glass vase filler.

{christmas} Baby’s First Christmas
My baby isn’t much of a baby these days…he’s babbling up a storm and walking around the house like he owns the place! With the holidays approaching, I can’t help but think back to where we were just a year ago. Celebrating Christmas with our brand-new sweet miracle!
So that was how today’s Gift Guide came to life. It is for all of you new Mammas celebrating your little one’s first Christmas this year! I found some darling, vintage-inspired ideas for you. These would make wonderful gifts as well. 🙂

{christmas} For the World Traveler
Happy Friday! I’m back again with another gift guide! This one is for that special someone on your list who loves to travel!
-
Tie a box of colored chalk to the chalkboard map and include a note with instructions to color in the states they have visited. (I believe the same shop makes world maps as well)
-
Find a special pen to add to the journal. Then on the first page, write your wishes for the recipient or a neat quote about traveling/dreams/adventure, etc.
-
For the recipient who travels and frequently must stay in a hotel: tie up a pair of your favorite pillowcases with twine. Add a note explaining that they can slip this on a hotel pillow…for a touch of home while they’re far away. (Note: it’s probably a good idea to use pillowcases with designs or colors. White pillowcases may get confused with hotel linens!)
{christmas} Day 5: Lovely Ladies
Welcome to Day #5 of my Handmade Gift Giving series! I hope it has been helpful to you and given you a few ideas as you make your Christmas lists in the coming months. It has been such a fun week and I have enjoyed finding beautiful things to share with you! So much so, that I’d like to share a new adventure I’m undertaking: offering my super Gift Finding services to you!
I love finding unique gifts…the ones that don’t scream, “I just ran into the mall and grabbed something.” I’m sure you can understand. Unfortunately, the search for just the right thing requires time, which many of us have very little of! Here’s where I come in: you give me a little information about your recipient and I’ll take care of the rest! In a few days’ time, you’ll receive a picture file in your inbox, much like the ones in my Gift Giving Series. Links and a few packaging ideas will be included too! Then you’ll just have to sit back, buy and pay! So easy and stress-free!
If you’re interested, please click on the button on my sidebar and get in touch with me! I’d love to hear from you!

So back to today’s grouping…perfect for all the ladies in your life! My recipient for this group would be a fashion forward woman who loves to dress up and feel beautiful.

{christmas} Day 4: Little Pink Cowgirl
Welcome to Day #4 of my Handmade Gift Giving series! I had so much fun with today’s theme…I don’t get to see pink very often around here! 🙂
Necklace, Skirt, Hobby Horse, Lovey, Art Print, Booties |
A few ideas for pairing these gifts:
- Have a little baby girl on your list? Pair the “lovey” blanket (which you can even customize with her name!) with the booties for a super sweet gift!
- Make a “Cowgirl Kit” with the hobby horse and skirt, but be sure to find a pink cowgirl hat to include too!
- Frame the art print, wrap in kraft paper and tie with fun pink ribbon.
- For a cute girlfriend gift, you can pair a necklace with this adorable “Cowgirl Cookie” mix:
Works for big girlfriends and little girls alike! 🙂
Come back tomorrow for Day #5!
{christmas} Day 3: Your Little Superhero
Welcome to Day #3 of my Handmade Gift Giving series! Today’s theme is for those little boys in your life! In my home, super heroes are a really big deal. And although I was clueless at first, I can now name the members of the Justice League with the best of them! haha
Seriously though, super heroes are a great way for little boys to learn about good and evil, about being chivalrous, and about kindness and generosity to others. And for this mamma, all of those are a good, good thing.
Peg Dolls, Cape, Buckets, Superhero Lightning Bolts, Lunchbox, Mask |
Packaging ideas:
- Pick out a few of your little guy’s favorite Super Friends and package them in the lunchbox. I love using lunchboxes as storage because they are sturdy and are easy to transport!
- Make a “Super Hero” kit with the cape, mask and lightening bolts and package them in a personalized bucket. The buckets pictured above are small and party favor sized, but the concept is universal! Find a plain bucket (I believe places like Hobby Lobby have them, but also look at hardware stores) and decorate with his favorite Super Hero symbol. You can even just do his initial!
I love having packaging that can also be used again, especially with kids. When you package a gift in a lunchbox or bucket, they can also easily be used for storage and organization, and can’t we all use a little more of that!
{christmas} Day 2: Tea Time!
Day #2 is for all of the tea-drinkers on your list! So many cute finds!
Honey, Art Print, Tea Cups, Teapot Necklace, Tea Wallet |
Pick two or three of these options and you’ll have a sweet gift for a friend or a loved one. Here are a few ideas:
- Pair the handmade teacup with a few of your favorite teas. Take the bags out of the box, tie a handful with pretty ribbon and place inside the cup.
- Tuck a few teabags into the wallet. Stuff a little of shread/crinkle paper inside the cup and then tuck the wallet inside.
- Have the print framed (you can find inexpensive frames at Ikea and Hobby Lobby). Wrap with kraft paper and twine and then include a note and tuck one of your favorite teas inside the card.
Kraft Bag, Tea Box |
- Any of the teacup ideas would look darling in these kraft bags with the window on the front. Just finish with a label or some washi tape and you are good to go!
- For a more expensive option, but one that would definitely become a family heirloom, look into the tea box. Gorgeous!
